Creative Writing Group

Group Description: The Creative Writing Group is a fun, supportive, low-stress group for all writers and would-be writers. We do writing exercises, talk about the art and craft of writing, and (optionally!) share our work with each other. Whether you’re interested in fiction of all genres, poetry, or creative non-fiction, come along and see if we’re for you.

Meets monthly at the TREC space, 1.5 hours

Drama Group

Group Description: The session is for anyone who is interested in theatre and performing, experience and ability doesn’t matter and anyone is welcome. The sessions will be really informal and for the first one we will be doing some get-to-know-you games and team building activities with the aim of getting to know each other as performers and to have fun doing performance!

Transphobic Hate Crime Reporting Surgery

Service Description:  Victims of hate crime and hate incidents can now report their experiences confidentially at TREC’s hate crime reporting surgery.  Members of the TREC team have been specially trained to take reports and liaise with the police about transphobic hate crime.  We welcome you to come have a chat with us about any transphobia you have experienced.  We can also take reports about other types of hate crimes and incidents such as those motivated by the victim’s sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion or disability.

Networking*

Networking groups are organised around a particular topic or need and organised/run by people belonging to the groups themselves.  We currently have the following groups meeting at every TREC event:

LGB - T Group

A space for trans people who define as lesbian, gay, bisexual or pansexual to come together and make friends, find support and discuss the issues that affect them.  Individual meetings may be opened to partners and invited allies.

Young People's Networking Group (18-25)

A chance for young trans people to network and discuss issues that affect them or are important to them, such as education, youth groups and family life.

SOFFA's Networking Group

A group for the significant others, friends, families and allies of trans people to get together and talk.  Please feel free to contact us in advance if you need more information.

*If you are interested in leading a new networking group, please get in touch with us to discuss options for how to make this happen.
