A TREC to Novel-Land: NaNoWriMo for TREC Creative Writers!

Published 07 October 2010
Hello all TREC creative writing people and interested observers! For the next few meetings, we're going to do something a bit special.

We're looking for some brave writers to join us in attempting National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, a wild and fun challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November (check out http://www.nanowrimo.com/ for more information).

In honor of NaNoWriMo, the TREC creative writing group will have some special events happening. Along our usual meeting, there will also be several "write-ins", where you can scribble in familiar company, as well as regular dispensing of dubious wisdom and inspiration from your fellow writers, and possibly even a party at the end of it all to celebrate our victories or honourable defeats. I am also going to set up an online forum for the TREC creative writing group--for which we need a name!

If you're less than inspired by the idea of writing a novel and would prefer to work on your film script/memoirs/graphic novel/interactive fiction, or if 50K seems a bit too much for your schedule, don't worry! You can still join us: set a personal writing goal for November, and we'll help you achieve it!

It all begins on the October 9th meeting of the TREC writing group, when we plan our when and wheres, and pledge to shoot for our personal goals. If this sounds like fun, please come along!
