Details of the next TREC event - Saturday 13 March 2010

The next TREC event will take place on Saturday, 13 March 2010, from 11am until 4pm.  We meet at the LGF, 3rd floor, Princess House, 105-107 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6DD.

The team at TREC have put together an interesting programme with lots of opportunities to meet people, build your skills and access services.  Here are some of the activities and workshops planned:

  • 'Exploring Trans History' presentation by TREC board member Jenny-Anne Bishop

  • Home Office presentation on the Vetting and Barring Scheme and consultation feeding into their Equality Impact Assessment
  • Facilitated discussion about the NHS & Trans Health with special guests
  • Drama Group
  • Creative Writing Group

  • The first workshop of The Transmission Project, In partnership with Gaydio
  • Sexual Health Clinic, In partnership with Manchester Centre for Sexual Health

  • Transphobic Hate Crime Reporting Surgery, Sponsored by the Crime and Disorder Unit

Networking Groups:

  • LGB - T (Trans people who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual)

  • Young People (18-25)

  • Significant Others, Friends, Families and Allies (SOFFAs)

Self-Organised Space (SOS) -- Looking for something that'll suit people like you?  This is YOUR opportunity to organise a workshop, networking group or activity that will meet your needs.  Just email board@transcentre.org.uk or see one of the TREC team on the day for details.  SOS is allotted on a first come, first served basis - so be quick!
